Stamp Anniething: Merry Christmas Snow Globe Ornament

This month's Stamp Anniething release was inspired by the amazing Polynesian mythological film, Moana! This stamp set, called How Far You'll Go, is perfect for making holiday cards, ornaments, and decorations! I am sharing a snow globe ornament I made using the two smaller stamps, Hei Hei and Pua. This ornament will make a great gift too! Fast and easy to make. 

Stamp Anniething products used:

• How Far You'll Go stamps and outline dies
• Christmas Word Die
• Shaker Basics Winter Add on (Snow Globe)
• Shaker Basics Set #1 (retired)
• Clay shaker bits and Itty Bitty Beads (retired) - use what you have, such as sequins, beads, etc.

Supplies used:

• Chipboard to create shaker/snow globe
• Acetate for window of shaker/snow globe
• Christmas patterned paper of choice (I used some from Hobby Lobby)
• White cardstock for back of snow globe
• Ribbon

Copic markers used:

Hei Hei

• White: C3, C1, 0
• Yellow: Y38, Y35, Y13
• Blue: B05, B02, B00
• Red: R37, R35, R32

Pua

• White: C3, C1, 0
• Gray: C5, C3, C1
• Pink: R85, R83, R81

Christmas Word Die: B16, B14, B12

Notes: 

• Die cut the Christmas Word Die, color and set aside.
• If using clay sprinkles, cut at least 6 layers of chipboard for the shaker/snow globe. Die cut one piece of acetate. Assemble/create the shaker.
• Cut a front and back for the snow globe base using chipboard. Swipe on the distress ink using the ink pad. Glue one in front and one to the back of the snow globe. Adhere the Christmas word die cut.
• I used the label die that came with the Shaker Basics Winter Add on (snow globe) to use as the ornament holder. I folded the label in half and glued it to the snow globe as a hanger for the ribbon. Feed about 7 inches of ribbon and tie a knot. Hide the knot inside the folded hanger.
• Create a bow and glue to the top of the snow globe.

Scrappy Boy Stamps: Christmas Ornament Tags

I love making Christmas tags that can be saved and used as an ornament for a tree or a decoration. I made these ornaments using the adorable Scrappy Boy Stamps' Away in a Manger stamp set. It has all the stamps to make a nativity scene or just cute tags with a few of the stamps. 

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a card with a nativity scene. At this time, I colored a double set of stamps to save to make these ornament tags. Please refer back to this blog post, called Away in a Manger, for all the Copic colors used. 

To make the ornament tag, I used a die from Lawn Fawn called Stitched Circle Tags. I used Distress Inks and Oxide Inks to create the background. Colors are listed below each ornament.

Distress Inks used: Seedless Preserves, Blueprint Sketch

Distress Inks used: Wild Honey, Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves

Oxide Inks used: Tumbled Glass, Dusty Concord

To finish the tags, I added a ribbon bow, jute for the string, and a few sequins on each. I used a white gel pen to add a few stars.

Blank Page Muse - Bright and Colorful Holiday Ornament

One thing I've always loved are handmade ornaments. I have kept ones made by my kids and hang them on the Christmas tree every year. Every year, I try to make a handmade ornament and this year I created one that could be used on my Christmas tree or can be used all year round as a decoration.

The double-sided ornament is made from chipboard, stamped, and sealed with Glossy Accents so they will last for many many years. They make great stocking stuffers and gifts. Plus they are fun to make! I hope you will give them a try.

Supplies:

• Blank Page Muse Stamps: Background Grunge Stamp Sheet by Pam Bray and Small Butterfly by Pam Bray
• Chipboard - either 30pt or 22pt
• Ornament die or circle die, minimum size 3". I used Lawn Fawn's Stitched Circle Tags Dies
• Black solvent ink, such as Staz-On
• Acrylic stamping block
• Washi tape
• White gesso
• Washi tape - this is for texture. Use any pattern.
• Distress ink or Distress Oxide: Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves, Black Soot
• Distress ink applicator
• Distress Collage Medium or Mod Podge (matte or glossy)
• Strong white glue
• Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze
• Paint brush
• Black 1/4" wide ribbon - approximately 9"
• Optional items: Charms

Instructions:

• Using an ornament or circle die, cut 2 die cuts with chipboard
• Using a paint brush, apply a thin layer of Gesso on one side of each of the die cuts. You will only need to do one side since we will be gluing these two pieces together. Let dry completely.
• Adhere the washi tape in various areas

• Apply another thin coat of Gesso and let it dry

• Using the black ink pad and background stamps, stamp a few of the background images. When stamping chipboard, I find it easier to place the chipboard on top of the larger stamps and rub it.

• Apply another thin coat of Gesso, making sure you can still see the stamps through the Gesso. Let it dry.
• Now stamp your focal stamps. Design your ornament how you like it! Let the ink dry.

• Apply the colorful distress inks in various places. Apply the Black Soot in on the edges of the ornament.

• Using a paint brush, apply a coat of the Distress Collage Medium or Mod Podge. Let it dry.
• Using a paint brush, apply a generous coat of Glossy Accents. Add the charm while it is still wet. Add a little extra Glossy Accents to make sure the charm is secure. Let it dry.  NOTE: If you have charms that have the ring on top, break it off with two jewelry pliers. Hold the charm with one pliers and twist off the ring with the other pliers.

• Using strong white glue, adhere the two back sides together to form the ornament.

• Insert a charm in the ribbon and tie the ribbon onto the ornament. If you used a circle die, you will need to punch a hole and thread your ribbon through. Your masterpiece is done!
